About Barcode Generator

Create barcodes in seconds: Code 128 for any text (shipping labels, asset tags, internal IDs), EAN-13 and UPC-A for retail products with automatic check-digit calculation. The barcode is drawn locally and exported as a crisp PNG you can print anywhere.

How to use Barcode Generator

  1. Pick the barcode format.
  2. Type the content — text for Code 128, 12 digits for EAN-13 (the 13th check digit is computed), 11 for UPC-A.
  3. Adjust bar size and height, then download the PNG.

Choosing the right barcode format

Code 128

The workhorse of logistics and inventory: it encodes all 128 ASCII characters at high density. Use it for shipping labels, asset tracking, and any internal identifier. This generator uses subset B (letters, digits, punctuation) and automatically switches to the dense subset C for runs of digits.

EAN-13

The global retail standard (Europe, Asia, and everywhere else): 13 digits where the first 2-3 identify the country/GS1 prefix and the last is a check digit. Enter 12 digits and the check digit is calculated for you; enter 13 and it is validated.

UPC-A

The North American retail standard: 12 digits, structurally a subset of EAN-13. Enter 11 digits and the check digit is added; enter 12 and it is validated. Products sold in the US and Canada typically need UPC-A.

Printing tips

  • Keep the quiet zones (the blank margins this generator adds) — scanners need them.
  • Print at 300 DPI or higher; thermal printers work best.
  • Test with a scanner app before printing a whole batch.

Frequently asked questions

Is this barcode generator really free?

Yes — free with no account, no watermark, and no limit on the number of barcodes.

Are the check digits calculated correctly?

Yes — EAN-13 and UPC-A check digits follow the official GS1 modulo-10 algorithm, and Code 128 uses the standard weighted checksum. The generator validates check digits you provide and computes missing ones.

Can scanners read the generated barcodes?

Yes — the encoding follows the official specifications exactly (module widths, guards, check digits). Print at sufficient resolution and keep the quiet zones.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Barcodes are drawn on your device with canvas; nothing is transmitted.

Which browsers are supported?

Any modern browser on desktop or mobile: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
