Why this is different from other background removers

Popular background-removal websites upload your photo to their servers, process it with their model, and send the result back. That means someone else's infrastructure sees your photos — and most of them charge once you want full resolution without a watermark.

This tool runs a neural matting network (MODNet) compiled to WebAssembly right in your browser. The first visit downloads the model once (~7 MB); after that it is cached and everything works offline. No account, no watermark, no resolution cap, no limit on the number of images.

What works well

• Portraits and people photos — the model was trained on human subjects and handles hair edges well
• Product photos with a clear subject
• Any image where the subject contrasts reasonably with the background

Complex scenes with many objects, or subjects that blend into the background, may produce rougher edges — the model is a matting network for a main subject, not a general-purpose object selector.

What to do with the result

The transparent PNG can be dropped straight into any design tool, e-commerce listing, or profile picture maker. Or pick a solid color here — white for ID-style photos, blue for some official forms — and get a finished JPEG.
