About AI Chat (Local)
AI Chat is a free conversation tool with a difference: the AI model runs on your own device, not on a server. You can use Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano when it's available, or switch to an open LiquidAI LFM2.5 model compiled to WebAssembly, which works in any modern browser. Pick the model that suits you: LFM2.5-230M (Q4) or LFM2-VL-450M (Q4_0, used for text). The WebAssembly model is downloaded once from Hugging Face and cached in your browser's storage — after that it loads instantly, even offline. Your conversations never leave your computer.
How to use AI Chat (Local)
- Pick an engine: Chrome's built-in AI (if available) or the local WebAssembly model, and choose which local model to use.
- Type a message and press Send — the first run downloads the chosen model once, then it is cached on your device.
- Keep the conversation going, or press Clear chat to start over.

Is this AI chat really free?
Yes — free with no account, no signup, and no usage limits. The AI runs on your own hardware, so there is no server cost per message.
Are my messages sent to a server?
No. Both engines run completely on your device: Chrome's built-in model, or a WebAssembly model loaded into your browser. The only download is the model itself, once.
Why does the first message take a while?
The WebAssembly model (about 150 MB) must be downloaded once on first use. It is cached in your browser's storage, so later visits start instantly without re-downloading.
How good are these models?
They are small on-device models — great for quick questions, drafting, and casual chat, but not as capable as large cloud models. The trade-off is total privacy.
